Finally, after almost a year of contemplating, I finally caved in today and bought myself a pair of Marais chelsea ankle boot. I have been dreaming of a pair since I first saw it on Jenny's flickr and later on, on Stephanie's blog. I know I know. It's Summer right now. Why on earth do I need boots like these? But you see, I'm already secretly preparing for Autumn and Winter. I absolutely hate the heat and these days with Melbourne being so hot and humid, I can't wait for Winter to arrive. To be honest, all I need now is a thicker coat and possibly one more pair of jeans (since I only have one pair and one thin jacket that's wearing out), and I'm all set for Winter.
My parents have been bugging me to go shop for clothes after they've seen how sad my wardrobe is. But you see, I am rather bad when it comes to shopping for clothes. I always end up going into the same usual stores and everyone's in there. I hate the idea of buying clothing that's mass produced. Everyone wears it and it's not original at all. I kind of like things from Gorman, Obus and those designer shops, where stuff is made in editions, but that means they're expensive. So I end up just window shopping. I do most of my shopping online these days. Do you happen to know of any nice affordable online shops that I might like? I'm into clean geometric designs, lines and plaids. And almost every other day, I imagine myself all decked out in A.P.C and Steven Alan. Hmm. I know. I have such expensive tastes.
PS: I now offer custom recipe drawings!
the boots is so nice I was looking one last winter and I couldn't find one that fit me. I hope when I back to Melbourne is a bit cooling down
ReplyDeletethese are gorgeous and the box is nice too!
ReplyDeletewow they are really nice! there is no season for beautiful things :)
ReplyDeleteYou should have come up to South East Queensland, we have had cooler weather up here with all of the rain! Thankfully, I don't live in the flooded areas. Has there been much on the news about Queensland's floods down there?
ReplyDeletethey're lovely! I bought some marais boots last year and they're so comfy but the shipping was a killer.
ReplyDeleteNice boots!
ReplyDeleteI'm not so good at buying clothes either. Like you, I greatly dislike all the mass produced stuff shipped overseas that end up falling about after a few wears. I don't have it in my budget to get clothes, but every few months or so I'll save up for something nice. I really want to get a St. James striped tee next! I'd much rather slowly build up a nice wardrobe of quality items than buy itchy fabric that doesn't fit well.
Nice boots.
ReplyDeleteI plan to buy boots for me too. Eventhough there is no winter in Indonesia :D
There are many online shooping by facebook. Maybe u can see some there.
Hi Dawn, I'm about to start selling on-line, you never know what I might have, I sometimes never know what I have, but I have so much. Keep an eye out. ReplyDeleteI really love your gorgeous illustrations and blog, sadly i have'nt blogged for ages but am intending to do more this year! x
Hi Dawn, those boots are beautiful! For online shopping, I think you might like American Apparel. Their stuff is always well made and they have an Australian site with free shipping if you spend over $100. Hope that helps x
ReplyDeleteThese Chelsea boots are the best looking ones ever! I've had it on my bookmarks for I think over a year as well haha. How is the sizing working out for you?
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone! Thanks for all the comments. I am so bad at replying comments! Oops!
ReplyDeleteAnyway the boots are really lovelt so far. They are quite comfortable. In fact I spent a whole day walking around in them and my soles didn't even hurt! It usually does after a bit of walking.
Melly, the sizing runs a bit small, especially if you have broad feet. I do. And I'm a usual Size 7, 7.5.. I bought the size 7 cause it fits just nicely just a bit snug at the sides. The woman at the shop told me it'll stretch out but it doesn't seem like it does. Not a lot anyway.. So I'd say a size bigger would be better.. Not sure.. I read blogs online saying they run a bit small. Well if it helps, I wear size 5 for saltwater sandals.
Thanks for your reply, Dawn! Duly noted.
ReplyDeletethose boots are gorgeous. thanks for making me want a pair, too. the cycle continues..
ReplyDeleteOh the heat is also high here in Florida! That boot is so nice for winter. I went to the mall yesterday for window shopping, too. Haha! Have you tried ASOS? It's one of the top online stores, I think. They got great finds there. I like saving up for something that I really like as well.
